"After using other providers, I've happily changed to affinity.net.nz for all my VPS hosting. Faster, and with great local support."
Simon Carpinter, software engineer
"I have been very impressed with affinity.net.nz. The overall performance, support and value is outstanding!"
Ben Edwards, web developer
When is support available?
We provide 24 hour support, 7 days a week. Making a support request is as easy as filling in a form within our control panel.
What would you help me with?
All of our clients are entitled to first-class, and unrestricted, platform support whereby the platform includes the physical hardware and underlying network to power your server. We also provide additional application support and system administration expertise on request. For full details please see our terms of service.
Is it hard to operate a virtual machine?
There is essentially no practical difference between the operation and behaviour of our virtual machines and real machine. If you are comfortable with managing and using a starting Linux or UNIX environment you should feel right at home.
What hardware do you use?
All our servers are Supermicro enterprise-grade machines with Intel Xeon processors and error-correcting memory. We use RAID arrays in all machines for greater reliability and performance.
Is your network any good? Will it stay up?
We are based out of the Orcon datacentre in Northcote, Auckland. This carrier-grade facility has multiple fibre links for redundancy. We use Orcon bandwidth for superb International and New Zealand-wide connectivity.
Do you charge for local (NZ) bandwidth usage?
No we don't! All New Zealand traffic is unmetered and unthrottled at 1 Gbps. Smoking.
What is prorata billing and how does it work?
We use prorata (or proportional) billing with all recurring invoices due on the 1st of month. When you first sign-up you pay only for part of the month in according to the monthly billing amount. Then from there on, you will be billed the standard amount on the 1st of the next calendar month.
What will I see on my Credit Card statement?
We bill in NZD and the charge will be against our Company, Affinity Dot Net Dot Nz Limited.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
Unfortunately all transactions are final and we offer no refunds outside our Consumer Guarantees Act responsibilities to ensure your service is not defective. Please choose carefully and contact us if you need assistance or have questions before purchasing.
What happens if something blows up?
We provide no warranty or take no responsibility for any kind against any losses caused by the failure of our services. That said, we are serious about reliability and have many measures in places to minimised potential problems. We monitor all systems and will know and address any issues if and when they arise.
So shall I take backups then?
Of course! Backups are vital for any businesses that store important data. We offer daily backups as an additional service, however we encourage people to take their own as a tertiary reliability measure.
Do you know what you are doing?
Certainly. We are fully qualified practising Engineers. Our platform and infrastructure has been built bespoke, tailored for our service offerings, but based on strongly-tested open-source foundations.
How long have you been in business?
We have been trading within the IT services industry for over 3 years. Affinity virtual servers is a new service offering since July 2012, from a culmination of our experience and client demands.
